The Journey to be a 美国树校园

LAVC's journey to becoming a 美国树校园 began in June 2010 with the creation of an urban forest master plan for the college. Following the completion of the LAVC城市森林 Master Plan, the college realized that its unique and diverse urban forest was worthy of national recognition.

In 2011, LAVC (with the help of the college’s Sustainability Group and President Sue Carleo) applied to the Arbor

  • Dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program
  • An Arbor Day observance, and
  • The sponsorship of student 的服务培训 项目.

2012年3月, the 植树节基金会 announced that it had named Los Angeles Valley College a 2011 美国树校园® in honor of its commitment to effective community forestry man年龄ment. LAVC was the first community college in California, and first college campus in the city of Los Angeles to be selected for the honor.

2018年1月, Valley College was named a 2017 美国树校园® for the seventh year in a row by the 植树节基金会.
